This is a piece I embroidered on dark blue velvet, and placed in a painted styrofoam frame. At the center is a reproduction of a medieval painting of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Above, intertwining vines emerge from each of them, bearing fruit and flowers. Below, a dark tangle of raw wool emanates from each side, containing small 'found objects': on Eve's side, a lock of hair, a shell, hooks and springs; on Adam's side, screws and parts of a circuit board. At the bottom, trying to be hopeful, is a yin/yang symbol in glass
This is one of the first weavings I did after moving to Maine, and the first in which I incorporated the "loom" into the work. The warp is strung on a circle of apple-tree twigs, which compressed into more of an oblong as I went along. There are also red dogwood twigs woven into it, as well as a pipe-cleaner (covered by the same fiber that makes up the weft) so that one of the stripes can leave the surface and loop up over the frame.

Well, anyway, here's my pride and joy, with his hamster...hmm... Better get back to this after I've had another lesson in HTML....
