Olivia Wooing Viola

This is only one of several dozen engravings done in the nineteenth century to record Olivia's relationship to Viola. Although the moment in Act 1, scene 5 when Olivia unveils is the most often represented, there are several engravings of their courtship in the garden. In most, like this one, Viola is gesturing and almost walking away as Olivia tries to restrain her.
