Either "Yixia" (一下) or "Yidianr" (一點兒) can be added to a verb phrase when you want to soften a request, command, or suggestion by making it sound more casual and brief. "Yixia" literally means "a swipe" and refers to the length of time the verb will take. Thus it quantifies the verb. "Yidianr" on the other hand literally means "a bit" and quantifies the object of the verb. Practice making distinctions below
