Math through the Ages
A Gentle History for Teachers and Others
William P. Berlinghoff
Fernando Q. Gouvêa
No book is perfect. This page records errors of which we are aware and
other comments on (both editions of) Math through the Ages. We use
MttA/EE to refer to the Expanded Edition and MttA
to refer to the original edition.
Errata
- MttA/EE, p. 50, lines 21-22 should read "...Niels Henrik Abel
(1802-1829), a Norwegian mathematician..." (Corrected in more recent
printings of MttA and MttA/EE.)
Comments
- In the sketch on polyhedra, the assumption that "all vertices are
similar" may need more emphasis. In particular, it should be repeated
in the description of the Archimedean solids.
