• after a noun or a plain form of a verb or an adjective.

            わたしもいきます。  I will also go.
               きのうは行ったが、今日は行かない。 (I) went yesterday, but not today.
               あまいかどうかわからない。  I cannot tell if it is sweet.
 
 

   Sentence particles appear

at the end of a sentence and turn the sentence into a question, doubt, wish, command, and others.

               これはなんですか。What is this?
               明日は休みですね。Tomorrow is a holiday, isn't it?

 

• Expressions like ・・・　と思う (think)／・・・と考える(cogitate)／よ and others may follow the sentence particle.

                今日は来るかなと思っていたのですが。
                    I have been wondering if/thinking that she may come today.

                泣くなよ。Please don't cry.
