Now we arrive at the place
We feared and expected.
We find it as bad
As we feared but
Didnšt wholly expect.
The landscape is gray,
Cold and stirs the feelings
Of loss and finality wešve
Always wanted to avoid.
But wešre here. How long?
Uncertainty adds to the loss,
The fear.

The people who work here
Are welcoming and kind:
Can I get you something?
Where do they go when
They go home? The suburbs,
The country? What is
Their neighborhood called?
Safe Haven? What is this
Neighborhood called? What are
Its boundaries?

We lived in a theme park
With a tunnel of love
Like that one in Coney Island
A century ago called Dreamland,
With more electric lights
Than any other place in the world
Before it burned to the ground.
